Action Poker Review
Action Poker is the jewel in the crown for the Action Poker Network. Running software developed by PlaySafeHoldings and has been running since 2002. The poker client is a reasonable 17.2MB and makes for a generally pleasurable playing experience. This poker room does NOT allow US players to join.
The first thing you notice about the tables is that they look like hi resolution pictures of other poker rooms you may have played at. The actual display looks very familiar and has all of the features you would expect to find at a serious poker room. You are able to view your hand history from the table, easy access to the casher and a statistics page that brings up information on your previous hands.

POSITIVES
Lobby
The lobby seemed to be a little cluttered when you first set eyes on it. The colour scheme doesnt help to separate the different areas of the lobby. Once your eyes have acclimatized, you can filter the tournaments either from the main menu on the left or directly on the display on the right. The majority of tournaments are for low to micro limits with not many options above the $20 buy in limit.
Game variety
Action Poker very nearly scored top marks for this aspect of its poker room. As well as offering the usual NL Holdem games, you also have the options of Omaha, 7 card stud and some of the more obscure games like Guts / Big2 and Pan / 13 Card. The reason I couldn't give it top marks is that there are not always players sitting at these tables. The $10,000 Guaranteed event is excellent value and is worth participating in.
Bonuses and Rakeback
As the name of the poker room suggests there are some quite different promotions being offer by action to get the players coming to the poker room. Everything from electrical equipment to having your car pimped "Pimp my Car" style, there are some nice niche events for a little bit of fun. For those of us who are a little more serious about our money there is a 100% deposit bonus up to $2500 which is up there with the best around. If you deposit with Paysafecard, then you could take advantage of a 150% bonus up to $500. This together with satellites into the WSOP 2009 and a couple of $10k guaranteed tournaments and you can see why people rave about the promotions.
Another big plus for playing Action Poker is the great rakeback that is being offered. 35% is a healthy chunk back.
Deposit / Withdrawal
Depositing money was not an issue with money being converted into dollars if required on deposit from most of the usual ways: Mastercard, Visa, Moneybookers, eWalletXpress, Ecocard, NetPayExpress, NETeller, FirePay, Citadel, myCitadel, InstaCash, UseMyBank, Transfer Wire, Money Transfer

Support
The poker room's support system is excellent with 24/7 support on both e-mail and live chat. There is also a decent FAQ on their webpage to check out before contacting people.
NEGATIVES
Traffic
As with most poker rooms the more popular games are pretty much always available, in practice what makes the other games on the site viable are the player numbers. The player numbers are low for Action Poker which is a shame considering how nice it looks and plays compared to some other poker rooms. At peak times you can expect to see around 150 cash game players and 500 low limit tournament players. If you are looking for bigger games then you would be better off looking at a more established poker room.
