Red Star Poker Review
Red Star Poker is another skin on the CakePoker.com Network but notably one that accepts US players. Red Star Poker is one of 31 networks that have joined Cake since June 2006 and has been expanding ever since.

POSITIVES
If you like low to medium stakes NL Holdem then this is a very good poker room. The tables are fast and the players quite loose in their attitude. The traffic ranges from about 3-13k players at one time so you should be able to get a game at a time that suits you.
Tournament Lobby
This must be one of the site's best features. Clicking on the tournament link changes the page into a different layout. From here you have the option to filter your search by game and type eg Omaha or 7 card stud tournaments at different buy in levels. It's clear and concise which is what you want.
Easy deposit
Depositing money was not an issue with money being converted into dollars if required on deposit from most of the usual ways:

Bonuses and Rakeback
This is a real positive for Red Star Poker and the Cake Poker Network as a whole. Being new into the online arena Red Star offers a large 110% bonus on first time deposits as well as a gold chips offer which are earned whilst you play. These can be spent on items in the shop or exchanged for tournament entries. Each day there is also a gold card reward system being offered where a particular card is picked and that becomes the card on offer at the tables. When you are dealt this card you can then add it to your bank. If you collect all 52 gold cards you can earn $52,000.
Another big plus for playing on this network is the good rakeback that is being offered. 33% is a healthy chunk back.
Other Features
There is in information screen with tabs in the bottom left hand corner. From here you can see some basic statistics from your play, change tabs to be able to put notes on people and chat.

You have the usual e-mail queries in as well as the FAQ area. There is no telephone support or live chat but they seem to be helpful and respond quickly enough
Software
After playing on the cake network for a week or so I decided to write this review. I have to say the software has not broken or crashed on me once! I've seen quite of few things on the internet saying it breaks and is slow but I can honestly say I haven't experienced any of that yet.
NEGATIVES
There are very few negatives at all with this poker room. If I am to mention one it will be regarding traffic on some of the less popular games (Omaha Hi/low, Stud etc) where table numbers can be quite scarce during the afternoon (European time!). The only other thing really is the Chat window is rather small and makes it difficult to follow conversations with fellow players. There really should be a way of increasing its size. Lastly, the withdrawal of funds is not as simple as at first seems with Neteller being their favoured option but not all of us have an account there. As you can see there really is not a lot wrong and this site comes very highly recommended by Best Rakeback.
